On the Origin of Species (Csa Word Classic)

Darwin didn't top the recent list of Great Britons, Churchill took that honour, but if I could meet anyone from the past, Charles would be my choice. Listening to this audiobook was a real pleasure, Richard Dawkins brings the words to life and injects a sense of excitement and wonder that is not immediately apparent when reading silently to oneself.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Hope this audiobook finds an appreciative audience and travels widely.
Picked up at today's meetup. Its not a book I would ever get round to reading in paper form. I hope to be able to listen to this while I'm doing other things. I am really looking forward to this!
I wasn't sure about Richard Dawkins reading this. I'm not his biggest fan, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The language of the book is beautiful and Dawkins really brings it to life.
I was able to listen to this in the car whilst working, hence not interfering with my other reading.

Soon to be heading in a southerly direction.

Enjoy.
Many thanks Deltic, delighted to receive this in the post this morning. Great timing, i just finished listening to Harvest by Jim Crace last night on the way home from work.
I really enjoyed the narration by Richard Dawkins, excellent reading voice. It's amazing how familiar most of these theories have become but thinking back to the actual publication time, one can imagine how disturbing they would have been for some as well as thrilling for others. Thanks Deltic.
Got this from Casseopeia while I was staying with her in Cardiff. I'm planning on putting the files on my computer and listening while I'm travelling, and I'll see if anyone at the Edinburgh meetups would like the physical copies. I'll make sure I come back and edit this entry once I've actually read it!
Planning on taking this to the meetup tomorrow to see if anyone would like it, otherwise I'll offer it up on the forums.

Right well no one at the Edinburgh meetups seemed to be interested, so I've started a ray.
Please journal arrival as soon as the book makes it to you...
Journal again with your comments once you've read it and try to send it on within a reasonable amount of time.
I don't mind how long you take, but if you feel like you've had it for a while feel free to let us know with another journal entry :)
The order is:
Ardachy (UK preferred shipping)
Vekiki (can ship anywhere)
ApoloniaX (can ship anywhere terrestrial)
FeistyPom2Love (prefers US/Canada shipping)

Sent to Ardachy.
Received safely thank you discovery lover. This is my first ever audio book so it will be interesting to see how I get on with it.
Richard Dawkins does a good job of reading this influential book. I will not rush to get another audio book though as I much prefer the experience of reading for myself. If anyone wants an idea of how Darwin's theory has been proved to be correct and built on in remarkable ways I recommend The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins which is one of my all time favourite books.
I will now contact Vekiki for her address so that I can move this audio book on.

This arrived today - thanks a lot, Vekiki! It came along with "Salted Cherry Blossom Flavoured Chocolate" and "Maple Syrup Flavoured White Chocolate with Crispy Pancake & Blueberry Fruit Pieces"!!! And a ball of wool for guerrilla knitting! I'm delighted!
ETA: I've just started two audiobooks a few days ago, both unabridged versions... that will take a while, so I'll just convert this one into MP3 and it can move on.

Travelling to FeistyPom2Love.
I received this today in the mail!! Thank you so much for sending it my way. I look forward to listening to it and moving it onward. :-)
I tried getting into this audiobook, really I did, but for whatever reason I found myself getting distracted while listening to it. I think that I'd better read "On the Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin rather than listen to it.
It looks like I'm the last person to receive this for a ray, so I'll put it in iwillrejoice's Audio VBB when my turn comes up next. :-)

I'm releasing this audiobook as it was selected from iwillrejoice's audio vbb. Happy listening!!

I definitely had wanted this one because while I'm familiar with Darwin and his theories... I can't say I've ever actually read this.
And that seemed like a real shame so I was glad to have this come available.
I finally got a chance to listen to it and in the forward, I laughed as I recalled what I knew about the genteel world back then and scientific discoveries and the clubs that everyone was a part of and their speeches... and yeah. I could see all of these things planning out behind the scenes and his friends pushing him to get his info. out there quickly before some trumped him.
I'm also very glad that I was already very familiar with his theories because the formal old world language would have made it harder to follow if not. And since I listen to audio books while doing other things, I rarely have my undivided attention on one.
It was fun to listen to, imaging how it must have been when this was brand new and earth shattering news. I really think it's quite brilliant of him to connect the dots in that way and realize how the earth evolves its creatures. I could see the line of logic and I enjoyed listening to what I've always know about but never in 'the flesh' so to speak. Good stuff.
Now I'll start looking for a new reader.
