Picked this up from the Hotel Betania in lobby bookshelf in Florence, on our way down to Rome.
25 April 2014 - even though it was originally published in 1957, and is therefore a little dated, I enjoyed it immensely, and it served to extend our recent 4 day visit to Rome.
"I told the brother I was sorry to have discovered this wonderful little island of healing on my last day in Rome. If only I had been familiar with it earlier, I should have returned many a time. And when I stood on the Tiber embankment and looked back at the island, I thought that in a world in which evil is striving for the mastery of the minds of men, it is with happiness and gratitude that one sees in places such as this how a good deed can grow and proper through the centuries. To seek out good thoughts and to reverence them is the privilege of those who have lived for no matter how brief a time in the mother city of the western world."
