Struggling to rebuild their lives after being touched by disaster, the Pickle family, who've inherited a big house called Cloudstreet in a suburb of Perth, take in the God-fearing Lambs as tenants. The Lambs have suffered their own catastrophes, and determined to survive, they open up a grocery on the ground floor. Well, I finally read this book and I really enjoyed it, although it wasn’t an easy-read for me. The Australian-English language was sometimes very unfamilliar, which made it quite hard at times. But the story was interesting enough to keep on reading and I’m glad I did.
I really like how it gave me a glimpse of life in western Australia, in the midst of last century.
Thanks again Bronwyna, for bringing this book to the bookswap game at the Oxford Convention. I really hope we can have real-life conventions again...
