I'm claiming this "country boy" poetry collection from the Bride of Potpourri bookbox. It contains several of the author's collections: Country Living, Philosophy of Life, Tickled Pink, Down to Earth, and Horsin' Around.
The poems are often a bit rough-hewn, but deal with charming topics, from outright humor to fond recollections of times and places past, to keen looks at country customs.
"Chigger" sings the anti-praises of those itchy little critters that are all too familiar to folks from the South: "They say the Lord made all things good, then sat down in the shade. But there are some things crawling 'round, I ain't so sure God made...."
"Southern" describes a variety of Southern food favorites, from poke sallet to biscuits and sorghum molasses - yum!
