A lethal black chemical cloud creates a white noise that parallels the way this family relates. It's DeLillo. Often hard to read, but always worth the effort.

I was saving this for a special relay, but after seeing how cool the shelves are of the people participating in my small box, I had to include it. I suspect it won't make it home -- and that's the whole point, isn't it?

This is one of my favorite books. I've taken it from SpikesMom's bookbox, to turn it into a bookring. From Amazon: "White Noise captures the particular strangeness of life in a time where humankind has finally learned enough to kill itself. Naturally, it's a terribly funny book, and the prose is as beautiful as a sunset through a particulate-filled sky." I think DeLillo brilliantly relates the absurdity of our contemporary lives, while still filling them with substance and emotion. His prose complements this perfectly, and every detail is a joy. Glad I could share this with other readers!

A friend recommended this to me, and even though I had stopped reading one of DeLillo's books in the middle before, I took his recommendation. Not a bad story, I just don't care for DeLillo's writing. Hoping others on the list find the love for this book that I'm unforutnately missing.
