Abstract:
"Nine-year-old Makenzie Lawrey is on a mission to save her little brother's life. Her quest is to raise $ 1 million for Mitochondrial Disease awareness. Her ultimate goal is to help find a cure.
Six-year-old Gavin Lawrey, the Mighty Mito Superhero has been through more bloodwork, diagnostic testing and doctor's appointments than most adults could imagine. To Gavin, hospital visits and medication make up just another day in his life. There are few physicians that actively care for Mito patients and a very limited understanding of the disease. Makenzie hopes the story of her brother's fight for his life will bring about change.
Gavin battles pain while teaching those around him lessons in love, laughter and pereverance. His Mito is superimposed with seizures, tremors, pulmonary issues, among other health problems. This book, written from his sister's perspective, allows a small glipse into this Mito Warrior's world. He is a real superhero.
Makenzie's vision is brought to life with the help of her mother, Brandi Lawrey, a team of photographers and artists, and the medical knowledge of Gavin's ever-present champion, Dr. Jose Colon."
I've seen a report on TV about Makenzie and her book and I have been impressed and moved heavily!

It made me cry!
This book is full of heros: Gavin, Gavin's service-dog Hershey, Gavin's mon & Gavin's dad, Gavin's ever-present champion Dr. Jose Colon and last but definately not least one of the greatest big sissies in the world: Makenzie!
Makenzie has written a wonderful book and I wish her best luck with her mission to raise $ 1 million dollar and to save her little borther's life.
To spread Makenzie's and Gavin's story, I'll start a bookring on this one.
I'll also buy another copy to start an international bookring, too.
I hope for lots of participants...
