Sandman, The: The Wake - Book X (Sandman Collected Library)
8 journalers for this copy...
The unthinkable happened: one of the Endless died. A wake is held and attracts the weirdest collection of "people" to pay tribute to the Sandman.
This is the last volume of the actual series. However, as I said at the beginning, I will also send out "Endless Nights" after this one, which is a collection of stories with each one dedicated to one of the Endless.
As before: Please keep the books for a maximum of three weeks.

On its way to Xirxe.
The Sandman arrived safely at the postoffice, where I picked it up today. Thanks a lot for the ring and sending it, LiliyKlip!

Phew, this was probably the most confusing episode I've read so far, at least the first 60 to 80 pages. I could not believe it: One of the Endless died? Or what? Or not? And also the two different stories at the end, which are very nice (especially the drawings of the last but one) confused me at the beginning even further. Do they have anything to do with the death of the Endless? And if yes – what? To complicate matters further all the figures of the past stories turned up again, from those I can remember a few, unfortunately, only vaguely. My conclusion: I have to read all this again, but with less time interval between the different episodes.
Whatever, this is an ending for such a serial like it has to be - mysterious and sad with beautiful pictures, but not without hope. Because: “And everything changes. And nothing is truly lost.”

The Sandman is now on its way...
Got it yesterday. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this volume. It was nice how several characters from previous ones showed up for the wake. The additional stories were great, too.
Thanks, again, for offering this fantastic ring!

Off to Tsjara.
The book arrived here safely. Thanks again for sending SerendipityN and LilyKlip for sharing. Another bookring just arrived before this one, but I will start with it soon. :)
So.. I guess Morpheus really is gone (though there is a new Dream, who is also him but not quite?). It was a bit sad, but also nice to see all those characters from previous volumes and their stories about Dream.
And there is the bit with the Necropolis. So I guess it did have something to do with the mourning Endless what was already hinted at in vol. 8.
I also like the 2 stories at the end.

This volume is off to MKtiny, as Vekiki asked to be skipped (already got a copy). Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing the books LilyKlip :)

Good to catch up with a few characters at the Wake, but my favourite was the story of how Shakespeare came to write the Tempest.
On its way to lunacia.

The book is with me. Unfortunately, it has a strong smell of perfume, so I can hardly touch it without getting a rash at the moment. I'm hoping it will be less smelly in time for my trip to London and Dublin in about a week.
Thank you so much for hosting this spiral, LilyKlip! It has been a pleasure to reread the Sandman series. I loved the Wake just as much as the other books. 😃

It's here, finally! I started to get worried it was lost in mail, but it's here, safe and sound! Finnish Postal Office is going through some major changes and mail might not be delivered every day as it should be. And we are having a nice construction on our street and some days our mail box is on its regular place, some days it has been moved. I actually don't know if mail man has been even able to deliver our mail as it has been so crazy. But now I'm babbling...
Thanks for sending!

Arrived today together with Vol. 9, safe and sound.
Looking forward to reading it. Thanks for sharing!

A bit long-winded for my current state of mind, but still well worth the read to say goodbye to some of the characters, and to meet the new incarnation.
Thanks for sharing, LilyKlip, and thanks for letting me read this at my own (extremely slow) pace. Sending 9 and 10 home together next week.

The book is back in Germany. Thank you all for treating it with care and thank you, Vedranaster, for returning them. And for the postcard - Zagreb is on my list of places to visit! ;-)
