Enchantment Ädventyr, HCA and I Understand
4 journalers for this copy...
I received this book from the Goodreads First-reads giveaway site.
This copy is autographed by the Author.
I really enjoyed the concept of the Author turning her research of her ancestors into a fairytale novel.
Also, I always love learning about different countries and their customs so it was pure bliss for me to read about how certain Holidays are/were celebrated in Sweden, and, the recipes at the back of the book of some traditional foods were an added bonus.
All-in-all this book is pure fun and I would recommend it for both the young and the young at heart, as well.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
Mycket tack! (Thank you in Swedish). This book really piques my interest. Like the author, I too am interested in genealogy. My great-grandparents came from Sweden and a number of years ago, I set out to do my family tree. It lead me on a great "ädventyr" in discovering a "kusin" from a branch of my family that didn't immigrate to the USA. Since then I have met him and other members of my "Svenska familj". My daughters and I were able to visit them, in Stockholm, a few "sommar" ago. Someday, I would like to go back and visit the island that my great grandparents and ancestors called their "fosterland". I look forward to reading this story. :-)
I read this book about a month ago and thought I had journaled my thoughts. Oops! Anyway... I enjoyed this fairytale. I found myself wishing that I could have a wood sprite transport me back in time to observe my Swedish ancestors. How fun would that be?!? It had me imagining what it would be like to ride in my gg grandfather's fishing boat off the coast of Karlskrona or sitting down at the table with those long gone, eating family favorites such as Julekage, Kroppkakor, Svenka Pannkakor and Köttbullar. Mycket tack again for sending this book my way. I am putting together a youth fairytale/sci-fi bookbox and will send it on another ädventyr. :-)
Sending this book out in my Box Full of Magical, Mystical Stories and Dangerous Beasties Bookbox. Happy Travels!
Interesting way to relay the author's experience researching her family's history. I enjoyed the story, the tale, and the recipes included.
At times, the writing is lyrical. I'm guessing the author was trying to mirror the lyrical technic she mentions in some swedish writing. I cannot say whether she was successful or not, as I have not read any, but it was nice to read. Made me feel like I was reading a story in poem form.
