Oliver Twist (Barnes & Noble Classics Series)

I've been listening to an unabridged-audio version of this book via Audible.com, narrated beautifully by Simon Vance, and decided to pick up a hard copy of the book to release.
The novel has a lot more going on than most of the adaptations, and while there are some very improbable coincidences - and the whole "Monk" subplot doesn't weave into the narrative as well as it might - I did enjoy it. I was amused to find that little Oliver had relatively little screen time, especially near the end of the story - the musical version has him being dragged along by Sykes, whereas in the book he finds safety much sooner than that and is pretty much offstage.
[There have been several film adaptations, including the 1948 film and the 1968 musical version. There's a TV Tropes page on the book that also includes references to several of the adaptations.]
