I got this fair-condition softcover from the used-manga racks at Harrisons's Comics; it's a series I'm not familiar with.

It took a little time for me to work out what was going on, other than the general "important journey of some kind" aspect, but when I did, I found myself enjoying the story. Kazan and friends are trying to find the (possibly mythical) land of water, in a vast desert - and while avoiding the attacks of a powerful enemy. One of his companions has power over water, but her abilities can't always help - and when the group encounters a village that lost its children to a "water spirit" they blame her and attempt to take her life!

Some good character interaction, humor, drama, and the promise of an interesting story to come; if I find more volumes of this I'll read on.
