If Sherlock Holmes and Alice from Wonderland were to have a baby it would be Flavia de Luce.
This fast paced murder mystery is told from the point of view of amateur sleuth and chemistry wiz smartie pants Flavia de Luce. She is so full of precocious cockiness that the reader is both cheering her on and astounded at her audacity. She is not a realistic portrayal of an 11 yr old girl. But really, who cares? She is fabulous!
The plot is full of convenient revelations for Flavia, but that is ok. The language is wonderful and the other characters are fantastic. This is the perfect reading entertainment.
I think I am going to hold on to this series for my kids to read, before I release them.
