Fourth in the Thursday Next series. Thursday returns to Swindon bringing Hamlet with her. The fictional Yorrick Kaine is on course to become a dictator and Thursday must return him to book world. She also has to ensure that the Swindon Mallets win the croquet SuperHoop against the odds to save the world, and she still needs to bring her husband Landen back into existance. Very funny, really enjoying this series.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Off to bookguide.
Thank you for sending this on, dutch-book. It arrived two days ago, I think. Good t see the multi-coloured car back on the cover.
If only I could find my notes, I might be able to write something coherent about 'Something Rotten' (it's a quote from Hamlet, don't you know?), but as it is, I only know that it was certainly on a par with 'The Eyre Affair' for madcap mayhem, unexpected plot twists and ridiculous situations. It defies description. Just read it and give your smiling muscles a workout.
The connection of this Thursday Next book to Hamlet is as tenuous as it could possibly be, which is just as well, as I've managed to totally avoid reading or watching the Danish play. All I know about it is the oft-parodied declamation of "Alas, poor Yorrick" so it comes as no great surprise to find that there's somebody called Yorrick in this book. The thing is, nobody knows which book he comes from and Thursday is in a desperate bid to send him back to the book world before he causes something terrible to happen in the real world. Back in the Well of Lost Plots, Thursday has found the perfect babysitter, but she's not so sure her mother will agree with her. Thursday and her son are staying with her mother, Granny Next is there to offer advice, Hamlet and a couple of undeveloped characters are also there and Thursday's husband, whatever his name is, will be making an appearance, off and on, perhaps, maybe. Or maybe not. It all depends.
Edited on 11/01/17 to add that I did find my (very inadequate) notes and here are a couple of quotes and things I wrote down:
"If the real world were a book, it would never find a publisher. Overlong, detailed to the point of distraction-and ultimately, without a major resolution." (p.75)
Dope-testing novelists (p.93). I can't remember what that was about.
The link between cormorants and bears (p.282). Now I would love to know what that was, but as I no longer have the book, I may never find out.

Due to a crazy work schedule, unexpected trips and ones that left earlier than expected, leaving me no time to visit our local part-time post office, I finally managed to get this in the post last week. My sincere apologies to everyone who I've inconvenienced, hanging on to these books for so long. There are now 4 books on their way to Lunatum.
This book has been released as part of the following BookCrossing challenges:
- The Ultimate Challenge - read and release books, with extra points for a monthly theme
- Reduce Mount TBR (To Be Read) - read and release books on the TBR list since before the end of 2014. My reading goal is 36 books.

The books arrived.
I've been on a holiday and I didn't have access to computer so journaling the boon took realky long. I really liked the book as I liked the previous ones.
And I'm really sorry I kept the book this long!

Arrived just one day after I brought the previous book to the post office... oh well, still good that I'll be able to send this one on from Germany later on :-) Looking forward to read it!
Read and sent on before I left Germany last week :-)
Another awesome adventure, though I do have to admit that I agree with Thursday... the real world is somewhat bland after the bookworld, but it's nice to get a relief from that much crazyness for a while ;-) And the characters following her into the real world do make things interesting again, too. A very enjoyable read, much like the previous books. Looking forward to the next one!

The book and its companion arrived today, safe and dry. Thanks, greenbadger for sending it my way!

What a pleasure to be able to visit the bookworld and its colourful personnel once again (I really love all those fancy names! ;-)).
And were it not for the annoying price of cheese, I'd really love to visit Swindon one of these days. To learn about the reason, why there sometimes are sudden outbreaks of unexplainable and totally unsuitable slapstick, is really a treat.

The book is now well on its way to Finland, in the company of volume 4.

Finished! This volume was great and I loved the end. I can't wait to read more. =) I'll send these two volumes forward probably next week.
The ray ended with me, but I'm giving this to another Finnish bookcrosser if she comes to today's meetup.
Thank you for the wishlist book, slipperbunny!
Funny, ridiculous book, really enjoyed reading it. Sometimes I felt that the plot can not be ridiculous enough, the real world is even worse;)

What a lovely surprise! I am currently reading Shades of Grey and am eager to read more by Fforde.
There's so much going on this book it hurt my brain and left me out of breath! It's all so clever and unpredictable it's almost too much. Can't say I've read anything like it before, Fforde definitely thinks outside the box. I haven't read other Thursday Next books but may have to.
Released at the local meet today.
Thank you for the book, SaaraHoo!
I haven't read anyThursday Next books yet. I wonder if I should start at the beginning. Maybe not.
