Fforde is brilliant: clever and funny. In a world that is ours but with differences, Thursday Next is a Special Operative dealing with literary crime. When the original manuscript of Martin Chuzzlewit is stolen, it turns out to be the handiwork of Next's evil ex-lecturer, Acheron Hades. Thursday gets the blame when he slips through the net and returns to old haunts in Swindon. Keen to read the rest of the series after this.

And I finished it! I did enjoy it, it was different and it remembered me a bit of Doctor Who which I happen to like very much. It makes me want to read all those classics with this in the back of my head which would undoubtly make it so much more fun! I have already requested and received the next one's adress, so this book will be on its merry way Saturday at its latest.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
On its merry way to lunatum!
The book arrived last week.
At first I had some trouble getting into the book, but then I really ebjoyed the book. It was brilliant!
I sent the book to next participant.
Thanks lunatum, Thursday arrived safely. :)
It took me a while to get into the story but then it was quite amusing. Thursday Next is an interesting character and I look forward to read more about her. And of course I love the way literature is the most important thing in the world! :)

Off to the next one. Enjoy! :)
And this one is now with me :) Thank you!
This book arrived here today. I can't wait to start reading :-)
I blasted right through this book - note to self: do NOT start another one of the series if I have any important work to do ;-)
I had quite high expectations from what I had heard about this series. And they were more than met - this is definitly a great (and addictive) series for me to read. Made me want to go and read all the other books that were referenced, too! Both the character of Thursday Next and her entire world are just wonderfully unique and quirky, with a perfect mix of villains, heros, lunatics and mad scientists - and lots of literature, of course.

Now Thursday is moving on :-)
Thanks for adding me to this spiral, Greenbadger, and sending the book to me, FraukeRo, it has arrived safely.
Looking forward to starting this very soon.

Completed this book now and I'm so glad I asked to join this spiral. I can now appreciate how this book set the scene for Book 2 and much as I enjoyed the next book, I do wish I had read them in order as a few of the references were put into the correct perspective, and some characters were more fully explained.
A fairly quick and very fun read.
I see there is another person to whom this has to go, so I'l pm now. Thanks.

I'm not too sure what to make of this book. I love books with crime, suspense and some mystery but this one just didn't seem that great. I had high hopes for it. I found it started off well and ended well but something went wrong in the middle - but judging by everyone else that's just me.
Looking forward to the second one. Maybe it might sway my opinions.
As there is nobody else on the list I put this on BookMooch.com and it shall be making its way to Canada tomorrow.
