The blurb:
The Logan brothers had been looking for their bowling trophies for years. Bowling had been their life's blood until one horrible night they dejectedly returned from a Paul Newman film about pool (which they thought was going to be about bowling) and found that some unspeakable villain had stolen their trophies. During three years of staying in dingy hotel rooms, they had held up over a hundred filling stations to finance their search for the trophies.
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Bob and Constance played the
Story of O game. A plague of warts had reduced their marital delights to Bob's reading aloud to a bored, if bound and gagged, Constance. And Bob wasn't even good at tying knots. On the floor below, the culprit, Willard, sat tight on the Logan brothers' trophies — mutely inviting destruction . . .

Thank you so much, Tarna, for this wonderful surprise. This book landed in my mailbox today and made me smile after a long and chaotic day at work.
This book is not only on my wishlist, but it is also one on the 1001-list of books to read before you die. I make an attempt to read as many as I can, so this book is double welcome :-)
I'll keep you posted on my findings after I've read it.
Edited to correct mistypings that were caused by using my cell phone instead of my laptop...

Promised this book to someone in the wishlist tag game, and here's my ten cents on it.
Like Tarna already wrote, this is not the world's best book. It is strange, at times funny, sad, but very enjoyable.
With this book I've ticked off another 1001-book from the list :-)
It is now ready to be sent to the next reader. I'm happy to make it travel some more, for it deserves to.

I will take it to my fellow 1001-list reader friend Lotte, who will probably pass it on to one of her sisters.

What a strange, compelling, compulsive read of a book ! I loved it and though I don't understand the last bit of it, I'm now determined to read everything Brautigan 's ever written.
Great book !

This sounds intriguing. I will always take a chance on books published by Picador and I'm not usually disappointed. Nice to come across such a well travelled book.
