The Dinner

This story from Herman Koch has it all for me, it is funny, a bit odd in parts, provocative and dark and after a slowish start, pacey. I have to admit by page 60 I had trouble putting it down. Highly recommended reading, but be prepared to be shocked.

OK, I had to take this away after the recommendations. Looking forward to being shocked!
I decided to start this straight away after marmee463's recommendation. Could not put it down! Reminded me a little of We Need to Talk About Kevin, just not quite as shocking. It looked like it was going to be just a nice dinner with friends but as the night wore on and each course was served the story developed and we learnt more about the dark family secret these four people shared.
Shared with my daughter who had spent as a year as an exchange student in Netherlands. She also enjoyed the book and now I have passed it to my sister in Queensland who will read and journal as an anonymous finder before she releases it.
Passed on to me by my sister, and I have now passed it on to a friend. It was a weird but easy to read book with an ending that leaves you a bit uneasy.
