It is hard to determine a good genre for this novel. I did not find this having very gripping suspense throughout the story, but there were many thriller-like elements still included here. All the twists were not the most believable ones, which bothered me a bit.
First it was a bit hard to get accustomed to the style of this book. Beatrice is writing a letter or talking to her absent sister through the whole book. This includes the story jumping back and forth in time to capture Beatrice discussing with policemen, hospital staff and friends of Tess in order to solve what actually happened to Tess.
The story is also about family relations, pondering how well we know our nearest relatives and how we appreciate or disapprove their choices in their own lives.
I am happy to have read my first book by Lupton, maybe I'll try to find her second book, too.
