This book has more romance than I would have liked - and of the improbable 'despite their avowed flaws, these people are too perfect' kind. However, I found the science/genetics backstory for the evolution of witches/vampires/daemons really interesting. It's just a shame that such interesting 'science' came with dialogue that could have been straight out of Sweet Valley High. Am intrigued by the second (this is the first of a trilogy) but not sure I will rush out to get it.
