The Grave Maurice
3 journalers for this copy...
In a pub called the Grave Maurice, Melrose Plant overhears the the intriguing story of fifteen-year-old Nell Ryder, granddaughter of the owner of Ryder Stud Farm in Cambridgeshire, the heart of Britain's racing world. The girl was abducted nearly two years before and has never been heard from since. The tale is especially fascinating to Melrose Plant because the girl's father is Richard Jury's surgeon. Recuperating from gunshot wounds, Jury is in dire need of something to occupy his time, even if the case is as cold as a case can get ... until another murder heats it up again.
I love all Inspector Jury novels! Found this one in a small bookshop at Camden Lock Market few years ago to save my holidays - I had nothing to read with me :-)

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Have a good journey! I hope to hear something from this book one day. Thanks to everyone who writes in the journal!
Taken from the Book buffet.
I love Inspector Jury books, too ;-)
Normally I thoroughly enjoy Inspector Jury novels, and this was also the case for most part of this one too, however I found it to have some flaws. The ending seemed overly dramatic (all those tragic deaths...) and somehow unrealistic (do you really fear for your life, when - sitting on horseback - someone else on horseback rushes towards you?) and so on.
But as I said - most of it was a treat to read :-)
