The blurb describes this as comic. I'm not sure I'd agree. It's light, certainly; easy to read but it didn't make me laugh. And that's not because it starts with a depressed lawyer suffering the consequences of a not-quite-as-bad-as-it-might-have-been-because-the-author-wants-him-to-be-a-sympathetic-character indiscretion: my own sense of humour is often black. No, it's just got rather too many almost but not quite credible coincidences and near-farcical scenes. The stakes aren't really high enough for long enough for things to be dramatic, and the situations aren't quite ridiculous enough for you to cross into accepting that it's meant to be silly and buckle in for the ride, as you do with, for example, Michael Frayn. I read it happily enough, but it's not particularly memorable and I'm rather disappointed.

Journal Entry 6 by Jannike at -- wild release somewhere in Oslo, Oslo fylke Norway on Thursday, September 22, 2016
I find that the text at the back of the book promises to much. It is not "compulsively readable" or "a genuine literary thriller". I like how the people and their environment are described, and what is going on between the different characters, but am not so impressed by the overall plot. But still, it is an OK and relaxing read.
