I picked this up at the Menasha Library Book Sale. This is an unabridged set of 4 audio book cassettes. I've been reading the The Prydain Chronicles and this is the third book in the series. If you like a good youth fantasy adventure, I highly recommend this series by Lloyd Alexander.
The first book is The Book of Three and it introduces the reader to a cast of characters that include: Taran the Assistant Pig-Keeper who is bored with his life and searches for something exciting; Hen Wen, the smarter than the average pig and also Taran's responsibility; Gwydion, a prince and protector of Prydain and of the House of Don; Gurgi, the ravenous, hairy humanoid who joins Taran's quest and adds humor to the story; the mysterious, magical and sometimes vexing Princess Eilonwy; Flewddyur Fflamm, the story telling bard; and finally, the evil warlord the Horned King who is waging war and terror among the land and people of Prydain.
The second book is The Black Cauldron. Taran and his friends need to find the evil laden Black Cauldron or "Crochan". Their intent is to have it destroyed before the dark and menacing Arawn captures it and uses it's magic to create an army of warriors that never die.
In Alexander Lloyd's third book, The Castle of Llyr, Princess Eilonwy must leave her friends to get an education on how to become a "proper princess". The strong-willed and smart Eilonwy finds that her new home, the Isle of Mona, is filled with many dangers and there are sinister deeds afoot. Because of Princess Eilonwy's special magical powers, she is being sought after by the evil enchantress Achren. Before long, the Princess mysteriously disappears. Taran and his companions find themselves on a terrifying mission to find their friend.

I first "met" the assistant pig-keeper and his friends many years ago and remember them fondly. This audiobook arrived today as part of iwillrejoice's Audiobook VBB, along with a very nice note, another VBB audiobook, and a bookray - very efficient!
