This book is nothing short of absolutely incredible! What a powerhouse read - I could not put it down.
I don't want to give any spoilers, so I won't say much more than that, but this is a book about loyalty and strength and I recommend that everyone read it.
From Chapters.ca:
The book The New York Times called "a fiendishly plotted mind game of a novel" is now available in paperback!
Two young women from totally different backgrounds are thrown together during the Second World War. One is a working-class girl from Manchester, the other a Scottish aristocrat; one is a pilot, the other a wireless operator. Yet whenever their paths cross, they complement each other perfectly, and before long they are devoted friends. But then a vital mission goes wrong, and one of the friends has to bail out of a faulty plane over France. She is captured by the Gestapo and becomes a prisoner of war. The story begins in "Verity''s" own words, as she writes her account for her captors.

I am taking this book to the Calgary Bookcrossing meeting at Cravings today. I think I know just the person that should read it first :)
Thank you for this book. It is now 7pm and I have a cup of tea, this super new book, and a Do Not Disturb sign on the door....
I liked the book and I have been thinking of the nuances of the story for many days afterward. I'm not sure I have the story totally clear in my mind but I think that is partly what the author intends.
Took the book to the Calgary BC meetup today.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing June meet-up. I'm told there's an interesting twist to this book so I can't wait to see what it is.
Okay, I see why you need to read the book twice. You definitely think the story is going one way and then, bam! You suddenly see the other side of the story. I was hoping for a happier ending, but it was not meant to be. But it's still a wonderful tale about the strength of friendship and working through adversity.
Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing July meet-up.
Picked up at get together
Amazing story. The writing style drew me right in and was brilliantly done. The twists were also well done - not predictable but nicely foreshadowed. I kinda wanted additional epilogues to find out more. This is a book I would happily read again, and it's hard not to talk other people's ear off about it.
Thanks for this powerful story!

Taken to get together to pass along!
Picked up at the November meeting.
Taking to the December meeting!
I loved this book - it was one of the best I've read all year. The threads came together in such a way that was breathtaking and required a re-read in some places. What a spectacular book!

I went to the December meeting at Cravings and came home with TWENTY BOOKS!!! Now for the reading of them, plus the many on my pile.
Very good book. It just kept you reading. My husband is now immersed in it. Thanks for sharing it Minerva101!
I am taking this to the Valentines Day meeting - Happy Valentines Day everyone!
I picked this one up at the February meeting, I will be adding it to my TBR shelf.
Amazing book! The characters were great, so smart and strong. Gave me a whole new appreciation for what people went through during the war.
Taking this to June's meet up.

I think I'll need to be in the right mood to read this... so I might end up sitting on this one for a little while. Picked up at today's Calgary Bookcrossing meetup.
This wasn't an easy book to read - The content is so heavy, and I found it just so mentally and emotionally exhausting, my mind didn't want to focus on it. But when I got to the ending there were so many threads tying parts of the story together I wanted to immediately start again from the beginning. It just needs so much emotional energy to read it again, knowing how it ends, that I don't know if I can do it anytime soon.
Will be brought to the next Calgary bookcrossing meetup and handed off.

Picked up at the August meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at Cravings Market Restaurant.
This was, indeed, a very difficult book to read. It is so well crafted, with brilliant and brave characters.
Thank you for putting this book into my hands.

Taken to the February meet-up of Calgary BookCrossers, held at Cravings Market Restaurant.
picked up at Feb.13th Calgary meeting
Really enjoyed this book, and telling Verity's story as a series of flashbacks takes some of the harshness out of the experiences she's going through as a prisoner.
My biggest complaint with this book is with the person who wrote the book's cover notes, and the author's (?) decision to add all the underlining - it gives away one of the biggest plot twists of the book if you're looking for it.
Picked up at the May Calgary BookCrossing meetup.
Great read! Everything fits together so well. I'm glad this book was nudged to the top of my tbr pile by fellow BookCrosser recommendations.
Taking to the Calgary September BookCrossing meetup.
