Purchased this copy at Miami's library book sale, as one of my favorite book of 2013, for the BookObsessed Best of 2013 swap.
Enzo loves his owner, an amateur race car driver Danny, and Danny's family: wife Eve and daughter Zoe. Enzo vows to protect the family as he observes the family life like a sagely guru. At times, he feels frustrated that he cannot speak. If he could, he could have warned Eve about the tumor he smells growing in her, before any doctor or machine can detect it. But he cannot speak, and all he can do is to give his support to Danny as he goes through the toughest time of his life.
This is one of the best books I've read this year. The story makes me cry, it makes me laugh. I feel depressed one moment, uplifted the next. Enzo is the best dog there ever is!!
“The Art of Racing in The Rain has everything: love, tragedy, redemption, danger, and--most especially--the canine narrator Enzo. This old soul of a dog has much to teach us about being human.” ~ Sara Gruen, Author of Water for Elephants
"...one of those stories that may earn its place next to Richard Bach's 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull,' Paulo Coelho's 'The Alchemist,' and Yann Martel's 'Life of Pi'...It's magic indeed..." ~ The Portland Oregonian
"Sweet, moving, sometimes shattering, yet quite unsentimental: a gentle triumph." ~ Seattle

Borrowed from Azuki, who kept telling me that it's a good story.
I like the story and enjoyed the details about car racing, which are very authentic. The story itself is pretty straight forward, at times it feels like the author adds more things (like the car accident) just to make things more complicated.
Now will return to Azuki.
