I Am Number Four

Picked up at the January Edinburgh meet up, but it hadn't been registered. It's a bit battered but still readable.
This was quite a fun read. Lots of action and not too much teenage angst! Think I will be reading the next one in the series.

This was practically forced into my hands when I was round at Bookfrogsters over the weekend!
I raced through this very compelling novel! I'm surprised I haven't heard of it before since it's been out for at least a few years now. Nonetheless, I enjoyed both the premise and the characters! There were a few sections where I just HAD to keep reading, and I know I was terrified at what might happen, but had to know. Luckily it was such a quick read it only disturbed the amount of sleep I got on one night! I'll definitely be looking up the sequel!
Taken to the meetup for Pippis at Pep & Fodder

So a Kiwi, a Scot and a Finn went to this café..now that sounds like a good start for a joke, eh? Even without a Swede to mock ;) Anyhoo, the weird combination of nationalities worked brilliantly, so thank you for the great coffee, ladies! They really had Edinburgh's best coffee in Pep & Fodder! Thanks for the books as well, will have to have a better look at them now that I'm back home (sniff)...

Just came to make a note on the prizes this book has been awarded with:
West Australian Young Readers' Book Award (WAYRBA) for Older Readers (2012)
Ulmer Unke (2011)
Hence, it's going to be on offer on Tarna's VPK V (that's VBB #5 on Finnish forum!) and it's also going to the "read now"-pile :)

I read all sci-fi I could get my hands on in my (early) teens, and I swear this would have gone down a storm way back then! Gosh, I'd have been rushing to the library to make a reservation for the other 6 books in the series! Now I was just a boring adult and went to Wikipedia to find out what'll happen later in the series...
[possible spoilers here, don't read ahead if you haven't read the book yet!]
A good, entertaining read, though a little predictable. The world of Lorien was really fascinating and I really wanted to know who/what was in that second rocket! (No, that wasn't properly explained in Wikipedia...) The chimeras sounded so cool, perhaps I need to watch the movie as well just to see Bernie Kosar in action.
We'll see if the book will be picked from VBB V list! If not, I'll take it to London with me later this year!

Just came to say I found the movie on Netflix! Believe me, it's cutting corners so bad... It does have all the main twists and turns, but it's far too simplified and relying heavily on SFX. Bernie Kosar's chimera form was interesting, and I realized there was no mention on the first book whether other chimeras had survived on Earth... The movie really underlined the weapons issue (never paid much attention while reading the book): how come John and his guardian initially only had a dagger (or knife, whatever) if other aliens had video game level blasters?
Oh shoot. I just might have to read the whole series...
Best regards, middle aged reader. *sigh*

I got this today and the book looks interesting. =)
I'm not sure what I think about this. I enjoyed the world and all the things we learned about Loriens, but the story was way too predictable for me and I didn't really like some of the characters. But I loved Bernie Kosar and I'm willing to read more just because of him.
Traveling to Canada! Enjoy!
Arrived safe and sound today. Thank you!
It was an okay read. I'm not interested in reading any of the others in the series.
