"Honor Bright is a sheltered Quaker who has rarely ventured out of 1850s Dorset when she impulsively emigrates to America. Opposed to the slavery that defines and divides the country, she finds her principles tested to the limit when a runaway slave appears at the farm of her new family. In this tough, unsentimental place, where whisky bottles sit alongside quilts, Honor befriends two spirited women who will teach her how to turn ideas into actions."
Another great historical novel by Chevalier She has such a beautiful style, you just sit tight and read (preferably under a warm quilt and with a nice cup of... something warm).

Reserved for a European ring. The usual guide lines apply. Make a JE when you receive the book. Then read and tell us what you think of it. I think 4-6 weeks should be enough reading time. Then send on to the next reader. If there's a bumb along the way, contact me and we'll figure out how to proceed. Happy reading!

The book has started its journey, first stop will be France. I hope the book will have a great time meeting new people and new countries.
The book is now with me. Looking forward to readind it. Thanks aava.
As aava said it was a perfect reading for a rainy day. As usual it's a pleasure to read from Tracy Chevalier.
It's remind me of the Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilts Novel Series.

On its way to Greece.
Received it this morning. Thank you Icila for sending it to me:-)
I read the book in less than two days. Well written with very interesting information about the life of Quakers and their principles in what concerns slavery as well as about american and english guilt making.
The book is travelling now to rodespringbal in Belgium. Thank you aava for sharing it with us and Icila for sending it to me!

Normally I would enjoy a book like this but with a lot of personal events, I had to lay the book down over and over again for several days. I haven't finished it but I don't want to let the other participants wait so this book is going to Germany
Thank you for the book! Happy Easter!
The author tells the story of a young Quaker woman who migrates from England to the USA in 1850. Her moral views let her abolish slavery.
Again Tracy Chevalier describes a girl of foreign times in the way her live and thoughts could really have been. I find the book very convincing.
It travelled a little bit through Germany with me, from Bavaria to the French border and will now continue it's journey. Enjoy!
Edit: saskiasosmile has the book already, I will contact the next one on the list.

The book arrived a week ago but I didn't have a change to journal it. I took the book with me to Tampere and read it in a train.
I've read two books written by Tracy Chevalier before and I liked them both. I really enjoyed this one and I couldn't let it out of my hands while reading.

I sent the book back "home". Thanks for organizing the ring!

This book has already made quite a journey! Many thanks to aava for this wishlist book of mine. I read some positive comments about this a while ago, nice to be able to read more by Chevalier.
