Synopsis (Credit: www.amazon.co.uk)
A book of short stories by the author of The Fallen which won the 1993 Irish Times prize for best first book of fiction.
Most of the 16 stories in this volume are set in rural landscapes where people inhabit a world made fraught by their response to their pasts and by the limitations that their personal histories impose upon them.
(Bought second-hand at Help the Rural Child Charity Bookshop, Victoria Road, Mowbray.)
Well written short stories, most of them. What I found amazing was the wide spread of experiences/settings/circumstances that he managed to portray in one anthology.
