A nice book about Alentejo region in the south of Portugal. I liked the way the author presented the characters along the short stories within the book and how she managed to present this Portuguese region and people. Alentejo is a very peaceful place from where young people want to get out whereas older tourists look forward to visit and to live in. I found the book to describe well the alentejanos as easy going and nostalgic people. Life seems to go slower in this part of the country… However, through the book I always felt like the author focused on something that she doesn’t really know nor is interested in. Because of that, you fell like a tourist when reading the book and some characters and stories within the book deserved to be more explored.
