I got this good-condition paperback from the bargain rack at the Book Cellar. It's Joyce's classic short-story collection, including "The Dead", which inspired the 1987 film adaptation. The stories deal with a variety of concerns common to ordinary life, though for each of the people involved the events loom larger - a death in the family, an unexpected pregnancy, the fading of romance...
