A library cull, I realize the "environmental study..." makes it sound dull and boring. NOT! This is a good and enjoyable book on the ponies of Assateague, which has given me the impetus to start planning a road trip East!

Oh, and btb, the first horse book I had/read was the well-known Misty of Chincoteague :)

I have not read Misty of Chincoteague, although everyone tells me I should. I selected this book from the book box because I plan to visit Chincoteague and Assateague this year and it will be a perfect spot for wild releasing the book. I plan to read it first, of course, because that will enhance my visit.

I enjoyed this look at the ponies and their history and the studies done about them. The book is a little dated, since it was written in the 1970s, but the basic information remains accurate -- there is probably just a lot more to learn.

This book is being released today during my visit to Mount Vernon as part of the You're Such an Animal Release Challenge. I had hoped to take it to Assateague and release it there, but that hasn't happened yet and probably won't get there for a while, so . . .
