Eat Me

From the back:
An enjoyable, explicitly erotic read.
In this eye-popping first novel--a bestseller in both the United States and Australia--Linda Jaivin invites readers to overhear what women really talk about when they talk about sex.
When four bright, successful friends meet in Sydney's designer cafés and restaurants to gossip about their romantic exploits, the talk sizzles. Julia, Chantal, Helen, and Phillipa are the best of friends. Professionally, their lives could not be more different, but whenever they get together, there are always plenty of intimate revelations to dish up and devour. Julia is a spunky photographer with a penchant for Peking duck and younger men; Chantal is a fashion magazine editor whose sexual preferences give new meaning to the words "mixing and matching"; Helen is a feminist scholar whose outward wholesomeness belies her inner naughtiness; and Phillipa is a somewhat secretive writer who appears to be taking rather close notes on her friends' raunchy tales. This outrageous, irresistible, and utterly original debut, which led Entertainment Weekly to call Jaivin "one of the 100 most creative people in entertainment," is the juiciest book you will read this year.

Rec'd this book yesterday and already am on page 146. Great read thus far! Definitely need to keep a cool glass of something or a fan close by while reading, though! :)
Wow! What can I say? I really enjoyed this book! I would call it "chick lit erotica". There's something for everyone in this book.

Read the first chapter and thought it just isn't for me or maybe I am just getting to old. LOL Is upper 30's to old??? LOL
received from bug007 in trade, looking forward to reading it
Ok, I admit I was forwarned that this book was definitely on the edge and erotica played heavy but nothing could prepare me for Eat Me. The first chapter blew me away and I thought, "What the heck am I reading and why am I even continuing? And who is Ava? I thought the novel revolved around Julia, Chantal, Helen and Phillpa?" Naturally after reading more I figured it out :) But this definitely was way more than I bargained for.
The erotica was 97% of the book so it's really hard to bill this a chick lit since I didn't feel there was enough stories and follow through with the central characters to really define what was going on.
I would have enjoyed the book more had there actually been a plot and something to sink my teeth into. There were a few brief attempts to introduce a plot and character development but it was so poorly done and veiled that I was surprised the writer bothered with adding it all. Eat Me seemed more of a way to pass off porn and introduce women to it than a story about the lives of 4 women.

Received in a box today from VraciousRdr. This will soon be read and passed on at the book fair or OBCZ.
Thanks!

Definitely some hot erotica here. I wasn't too old for this (47 yesterday), but I think you definitely have to be in the right mood for this. It's been years since I've read any good erotica - definitely enjoyed this one, although a cold glass of something helps!
I'll be passing this on at the book fair, although I think it may go to a BCer - I'd be afraid to give this to a newbie - they might get the wrong idea about BC!
Thanks for sharing everyone.

Passed this book on to another BCer today. I took it to the book fair, but didn't want to give someone the wrong impression of BC!
Got this from MaryZee at the Random House Book Fair -- what a title! Will journal later with thoughts. Thanks, MaryZee!
After the first chapter, I put this down for a while. From the title, you should've known, I told myself, but it still caught me off guard. Once I tried a few more chapters, though, I decided it wasn't that bad. But I just felt silly reading it.
I guess I must be too immature for this genre - it was if I'd stumbled across Mommy's porn collection, and I couldn't help giggling like a schoolgirl through many parts (particularly the descriptions of the American sailor and western cowboy playboys).
But the ending shocked me more than anything else - it was enjoyable, and actually made finishing the book worthwhile. I just wasn't expecting such an interesting plot twist among all the S&M, food usage, and girl-on-girl action!
9/25/10: Will release this at the National Book Festival being held today on the National Mall. I hope its finder enjoys it!
4/13/11: Oops! I thought I had re-edited this entry after the Book Festival to add that I couldn't bring myself to wild release this book! There are lots of families at the National Book Festival, and the cover is colorful and fun... I didn't want the wrong person to pick it up and get the wrong idea about BookCrossing. So I brought it home with me, but I'll be releasing it this weekend among fellow BookCrossers. :)
