An Appetite for Wonder: The Making of a Scientist

"Here, for the first time is an intimate look into the childhood and intellectual development of the world’s most famous atheist and evolutionary biologist, Richard Dawkins, “one of the most outstanding intelligences in modern science.” (Evening Standard) and “one of the greatest nonfiction writers alive today” (Steven Pinker)".
An ARC from Goodreads; I love Dawkins.

On the way to imuzak12 who is also a huge Dawkins fan ;)
Enjoy the book! Sorry couldn't mail it earlier, but I couldn't make it to the post office earlier.
And take your time - books are best enjoyed at whatever pace is comfortable. Slow, fast, the mood and the book (and sometimes language too) dictates or guides it.
If you find a next perfect reader for the book, let it travel (but if it'd feel for any reason lonely after reading it, I'm thinking of a few Dawkins fans we might see in Ireland in May or June, as a backup alternative). I hope the book will tell you who wants to read it after next, or where it might want to travel next...
Safe journey little book - I hope you'll make many new friends on your travels!
"Don't ever apologize to an author for buying something in paperback, or taking it out from a library (that's what they're there for. Use your library). Don't apologize to this author for buying books second hand, or getting them from bookcrossing or borrowing a friend's copy. What's important to me is that people read the books and enjoy them, and that, at some point in there, the book was bought by someone. And that people who like things, tell other people. The most important thing is that people read... "

I have heard about him, but this was actually the first time to read his book. It is a kind of nice introduction for me to read his works more in future. How he started talking about his ancestry, both paternal and maternal family, was very much like a scientist's approach, I thought:) The first half presented the background of how he was raised and grew up; the last half presented the and evolution of his works and career. It was an interesting reading to know about him more as a person. I actually listened this audiobook, read by Richard Dawkins himself. It was fun to listen him reading poem and singing a silly song:)
Thank you, aetm, my wonderful BC friend.

Such a lovely surprise to have someone send me a wishlist book, with a postcard and fancy book labels too! Thank you so much. Bookcrossers are awesome!
An interesting reading. This book captures and explains his practical, analytic bent and is touchingly humble about his abilities and his accomplishments. He leaves out much of his personal life and his feelings, which gives the book a bit of a dry character and makes it less than gripping. Still, I enjoyed it.
