Another thriller with Ruth and Nelson. I can´t expect reading it...
This is the third in the quirky, compelling series starring British forensic archaeologist Ruth Galloway, the first of which, The Crossing Places (2009), won the Mary Higgins Clark Award. A group of archaeologists are surveying northeast Norfolk beaches for evidence of coastal erosion. Incidentally, the team has discovered a Paleolithic ax, a Roman bracelet, and shipwrecks. At Broughton Sea’s End, they discover human remains in a gap in the cliff. The remains are a big find—six skeletons in all. Galloway is called in, along with Detective Chief Inspector Nelson, her married lover and the father of her newborn (things are complicated all around). The bones point back to WWII, the Home Guard, and a long-kept, incendiary secret. Moreover, the WWII vet who lets the police in on only the existence of the secret is found murdered.

I also enjoy this thriller by Elly Griffiths. The continuance is perfect but this book can also be read when you don´t know the first two books. Ruth tries to manage her new life as mother and struggels in a new adeventure when there are found 6 boddies at the beach at Sea´s end. Page after page the reader learns more about the local history of world war 2. Surprising end as always. I diddn´t expect this person to be the murderer of the newer victims.

Thank you very much for this wonderful surprise! I just love British crime novels... If I am not mistaken, I have not read any books from Elly Griffiths before, so I am looking forward to discover a new author. And thank you also for the bookcrossing stickers, I actually desperately needed them - you made my day :)!
A fine British mystery with a lot of atmosphere and well developped characters - definitely my cup of tea :)! I grew fond of many of the characters and I hope to read more of this author's books in the future.
I also found the background themes rather interesting though very sad: the problem of coastal erosion and, of course, the horror of the war and its long-lasting effects... We may not be able to do much against the loss of land to the sea but I hope that we will at least be able to prevent yet another war in Europe...

Picked up at meetup and will be used in my 50 book release challenge during the Edinburgh Festival - thanks
During the Edinburgh Festival 2010 I wild released 50 books around various venues to 'celebrate' my birthday. I got 9 'catches' which I thought was pretty good going.
It proved to be quite addictive, so for the 5th year in a row I thought I'd do it again. Collecting 50 books to release is quite a challenge, so not all the books are ones that I've read, if they are then my journal entry will be somewhere above.
Expect releases to take place between 1st August 2014 and 1st September 2014.
Thank you for picking up this book. I hope you enjoy reading it & look forward to reading your journal entry & those that follow. You don't have to join to journal (you can do that anonymously) but it's free, so if you're a bookworm that likes to pass on books, why not join in.
I will try & update these release notes with the actual details ASAP after release and will tweet their location as I go (@cassandra2020)
