by Stacy Cretzmeyer
When the Nazis invade France in World War II, many Jews must go into hiding. When the Nazis move into the south of France, where Ruth and her family live, the situation becomes desperate. Ruth has to change her name to Renee to blend in with the other children. She is hidden in a Catholic orpanage deep in the country. Ruth is only five years old and she has lost her family, identy, even her name. Will she ever see her parents again?

Arrived today as part of tabby-cat-owner's Holocaust VBB - thank you!
Ruth and her parents survive the Nazi occupation of France by sometimes hiding and sometimes pretending to be French. I'm impressed at how much Ruth remembers: granted that there was nothing anywhere near as significant happening in my life at that age, but I remember very little that happened when I was five.
This book went to a lovely lunch at Kincaid's and went home with someone else. Happy reading!
