If you only read one book in your lifetime (!) then ***read this!!***
This is such an easy book to read and understand, a simple thing to bring into your life, and put into practice, and yet it can save disease and your health, I really do belive that! Dr B. shows us how a simple glass of water can change our health for the better, and ultimately could change the healthcare systems if enough pepole were made aware of the benefits. Water is non-profitable - unlike the pharmacutical industry - so what have you got to loose? I challenge everyone to read this book and put it into practice and *not* see beneficial results! I'm offering this up on an international ring, and am hoping for it to have a large list of readers!

Here's the reading list and order *so far*!! Please check this before contacting the next person on the list, as this is subject to change. If the book on the move is getting too dog eared to survive a couple more reads, then please *PM me* so I can then purchase another book and on reciept of the old one I'll mail the new one out to keep the ring moving.

Received today... thanks very much, this looks interesting. I will journal this again soon.

This was an interesting book - I did not read all of the chapters, just those that seemed to apply most to me. I have started to drink more water in line with the doctor's recommendations - it is too early to say what effect it will have, but certainly drinking more water (and herbal tea, though I am not sure if that counts) will be good for my health.

The most interesting health fact I gleaned from the book is that morning sickness can be attributed to dehydration and can be alleviated, if not cured, by drinking lots of water. I have never been pregnant, but if that should ever happen, I am going to make sure I drink enough water to see if the doctor is right!

The book is now on its way to loopy1.

The book arrived safely with me today. Wow, I'm impressed at the list of participants! I'm intending to fast-track this book to get it on its way as soon as possible.
As someone who regularly has a coffee on waking then nothing else to drink until DH comes home at night, I've been concerned about my hydration level for a while. I'm hoping this book will be the spur I need to get myself sorted out and up my liquid intake considerably. Thanks!

Well I've finished this book - I have to admit that like Leigh I did skip a couple of chapters, and I skimmed the more technical stuff, but I felt the author did a good job of putting his point across about the importance of water to the body, and certainly convinced me! I'd love to hear an opinion from someone with medical training, though - it all seems too simple, if you see what I mean.
It's been the spur to convince me that I need to drink more water though, and I'll be trying to up my water intake over the next few weeks - I might even report back to say if it's had any effect :-)
Thanks for this, it will be travelling off to Chrisp93 within the hour.

I didn't even finish reading the book - I got about halfway through, and everything Dr Batman was saying made total sense.

So I got up out of bed and drank two glasses of water. And then another 6 during the rest of yesterday. I've always known I didn't drink enough: by the time your mouth feels dry, you are already severely dehydrated, Dr Batman reckons.

So today I'm sending the good book on its way to kathys

I've given this book a seven - it's not a particularly good read, like all medical journals. It just has such a vital message for us all.

Journal Entry 7 by KathyS from Ramsey, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Friday, January 30, 2004
Received today - thanks Chrisp93 and jackshome for getting the ring started.

Having felt terrible for the last couple of days, I immediately picked the book up in the hope that it would at least cheer me up! Within a couple of minutes I had to go and get a glass of water :-)

I'm already about half way through and can see that the Dr's theories makes sense. Unfortunately I think the down side of all the extra rehydrating water is all the extra trips to the loo! And as we only have one, which is upstairs, all the extra exercise getting there :-O Does this mean I'll be slim and healthy? I really hope so!

The way this is reading, I should have it on the way to Kangaroo in the next couple of days.

Journal Entry 8 by KathyS from Ramsey, Cambridgeshire United Kingdom on Monday, February 2, 2004
I finished the book 3 days ago and have immediately put the advice into action. Initially the only evidence of anything happening was a greatly increased need to pee! But after a day I began to suffer from a constant headache which I decided was probably down to caffeine withdrawal. Tempting though it was to have that cup of tea, I've persevered and today (day 4) I'm feeling better. The constant need to pee has subsided and already I can see an improvement in my skin which was always very dry and flaky. I guess only time will tell if it will help me loose all my extra weight, but I must say that my appetite has been much more normal and I haven't had the craving for salty / carbohydrate things that have been the norm for many years now :-)

Thanks jackshome for bringing Dr Batman's message to my attention. The book is now on it's way to Kangaroo and should arrive in the next couple of days.

UPDATE: 6 October 2004

Still not drinking caffeine in any form, and feel much better for it :o) Very few headaches now and my skin is much better. Thank you so much for helping me to kick my tea addiction jackshome!

UPDATE: 15 January 2007

Still not drinking caffeine in any form! I don't miss it but I must admit that I don't drink enough water these days. I very rarely suffer from headaches anymore but I haven't lost weight - it's stable but I still need to loose some. I wonder how other people are 3 years down the line?

Arrived this morning. Haven't yet started reading it, but the previous journal entries alone are making me want some water...!

Journal Entry 10 by kangaroo from Barnet, Greater London United Kingdom on Thursday, February 5, 2004
Found myself reading this last night before sleep, and ever since I have been thirsty. Hm. Tonight I'm going to try the glass of water and a pinch of salt routine before bed, to see if it works.

My dad has been shouting about drinking more water for years, so I might have to let him have a quick look before I send it on!

Journal Entry 11 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Thursday, February 12, 2004
Arrived this morning. I had decided a couple of weeks ago to start drinking more water and fewer fizzy drinks so this book has arrived at a good time for me. Will journal again as soon as I have finished and get the book on its way to camis.

Journal Entry 12 by mrsbridgewater from Holybourne, Hampshire United Kingdom on Monday, February 16, 2004
Didn't read this from cover to cover, but did dip into bits that I thought were relevant to me. Very interesting. Will hand on to Camis when I see her later this week.

Journal Entry 13 by camis from Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom on Friday, February 20, 2004
Handed over to me a couple of days ago - I know I need to drink more water so hoping this will give me good reason to get started!

Journal Entry 14 by camis from Norwich, Norfolk United Kingdom on Friday, March 5, 2004
An interesting book. I always try to drink plenty of water and know that I do feel better when I have been drinking more, so this kind of confirmed things for me. I didn't read it from cover to cover, but certainly the chapters I did read were very convincing. Time to lay off the diet Coke I think!

Will be sending on to Netstation shortly.

Journal Entry 15 by wingNetstationwing from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Saturday, March 13, 2004
Is this the book to break my lifelong caffeine habit? I'll let you know soon.

Journal Entry 16 by wingNetstationwing from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Monday, March 22, 2004
I *did* read it all, and some bits twice. The blood chemistry sections seem to make sense, and everyone knows we should all drink more water, plain tap water that is, so I've definitely put his recommendations into practice. I don't suddenly feel marvellous, but I didn't expect to straight away. I must say I feel more alert though which is odd as I've cut out almost all caffeine. I'm going to stick with the program, and see what happens.

I'm sending it off to Moondreamer now.

Journal Entry 17 by Moondreamer from Sandhurst, Berkshire United Kingdom on Friday, March 26, 2004
Received this morning - thanks, jackshome for starting this off, and Netstation for posting to me. 'Blurb' on back sounds interesting, as do the jornal entries so far! Looking forward to making a proper start on this.

I am taking this to Dorset with me for a few days, where I will be able to finish it. I plan to hand it to Kleptokitty at the 3rd Hampshire meet on the 20th.

Journal Entry 19 by Moondreamer from Sandhurst, Berkshire United Kingdom on Sunday, June 6, 2004
Earlier plans for reading this didn't work out and I apologise for holding the ring up. I have, however, at last managed to read it all, although not necessarily understood every detail. Like most, I keep meaning to dring more water, do for a couple of days and then stop. I have started drinking more again, and plan to try basing the intake mostly around meals as suggested, and to keep going this time - I did find the arguments persuasive!

The explanations given for the illnesses I have some direct awareness of made sense to my (very basic) layman's understanding, and I found the desciption of the effect of artificial sweeteners fascinating - I've only recently 'given in' and allowed the children to have 'no added sugar' squash regularly, and I suspect we shall shortly again be seeking out the fairly elusive 'no artificial sweetener' ones! Since they're only allowed it at mealtimes anyway, I shall also be actively trying to persuade them to drink more water in-between. Each has a slight tendency towards asthma, and one an allergy similar to mild hayfever, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Thanks very much for starting this off, jackshome.

As kleptokitty is in Portugal, I've contacted ToriaLouise for her address.

Arrived this weekend - looks good!!

Journal Entry 22 by torialouise from York, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 20, 2004
Like others, I didn’t read from cover to cover and but dipped in to the chapters most relevant to me. The advice was simple and sound and I have started to drink much more water. I certainly heed the advice about eating when in reality i need a drink. I now have a 2 litre bottle on my desk and will drink first and then see if i still have the munchies!! More often than not i don't!!!

Thanks for sharing - a really enlightening book. Passing on to jeweleee now.

Journal Entry 23 by jeweleee from Bolton, Greater Manchester United Kingdom on Saturday, July 24, 2004

I only got about half way through the book and I'll admit that I gave up on it, but it does make sense and it's certainly got me thinking. :)

Will be in the post to the next person tomorrow. Thank you!!
