Based on an Athabascan Indian legend passes thorough many mothers and daughter in the upper Yukon River Valley in Alaska. This is the story of 2 women who are voluntarily left behind when their tribe is in desperate straits. They actually pull thmeselves together and survive and prosper. Well told and fictionalized. I enjoyed this very much.
