Thanks for sending me this book from Bookstogive's Mystery/Thriller VBB. It looks like a fun read!
Book #1 in the Ashton Corners Book Club series: For the first meeting of the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society, six friends gather in Molly Matthews's old Southern mansion-including Lizzie Turner, a reading specialist with a penchant for mysteries. But the mystery book club meeting becomes the scene of an actual murder when a stranger is shot-and nobody knows who the victim is, or how Molly' antique gun came to be used as the murder weapon.
Then Lizzie begins finding mysterious manuscript chapters in her mailbox. As she and the book club members try to read between the lines, Molly surfaces as the next name on the killer's list...

My Review: This was a cute mystery! I wish there had been more character development, but other than that it was good.

This is the first of the Ashton Corners and Cheese Straws Book Club Mysteries. A book club who specializes in reading mysteries has one dumped on the doorstep when unknown man turns up dead. Stranger still is that he was found wandering around the house where they were meeting just before he was shot and killed.
Lizzie, the reading specialist who is leader of the group, decides to figure out who, what, and why he was killed. Adding to the mystery of his murder is the appearance of a manuscript and anonymous calls in the middle of the night.
Can Lizzie and her book club regulars solve the murder before one of them ends up the same way? How are the murder, the manuscript, and the phone calls related, or are they?
It starts slowly so it takes some time to get into it. Everything gets wrapped up quickly in the last 10-15 pages.

I chose to read this book in April because it met Plum-crazy's "what to read in April" theme of International Bookcrossing Day and World Book Night. (Read is an acceptable word). Pleasant read, likeable characters.
