Amazon Editorial Review

After giving up her career as a Texas trophy wife, 28-year-old Lee McKinney finds herself in a Michigan resort town, keeping the books for her Aunt Nettie’s luxury chocolate business. But she soon finds that her new life isn’t all truffles and bonbons…

Clementine Ripley, the defense attorney everyone loves to hate, is throwing a party that calls for several thousand dollars worth of custom chocolates—some made in the image of her champion cat. Lee jumps at the job, but sweet success takes a bitter turn when someone adds and extra ingrediant—cyanide—to one of their delicious chocolates and it finds its way into Ms. Ripley’s mouth. Now it’s up to Lee to figure out who tampered with Aunt Nettie’s recipe before they find themselves behind not-so-chocolate bars.

INCLUDES YUMMY CHOCOLATE TRIVIA!

The Cat has landed. Looks good, but it's too hot to even read about chocolate (around 30 C for over a month!).

Journal Entry 7 by wingkirjakkowing at Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Sunday, January 17, 2016
It's been between -12 to -28 C lately, perfect for this book. I think I'll go and get that new milk which does not burn when boiling and make some hot chocolate 😊.
Still reading, just commenting that I have read another book of this series and can't remember Lee mixing words like she does here.

Damnation! I had written a long journal and as I was saving it, the BC-site went down...
I was telling I'm almost sure about what happened, but there is still some book to go.

The book also gives facts and figures about chocolate since the days of the Aztecs, but no mention of Glorious Yorkshire, which after all is the home of edible chocolate. For ages people just drank the stuff, which was news to me when I went to see the York Chocolate Story last May. What a lovely museum, the pictures on the wall came to life within their frames, just like in Harry Potter, and in the end we got to make our own design chocolate lollipops. And there were tasters all along the storyline. And they had the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted! A must, if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.

I must have been good last year as I got a lovely Christmas present: "A Chocolate Lover's Weekend" at the Haikko Manorhouse (hotel). That will be at the end of February, I'm very much looking into that weekend. Haikko is a lovely place. Should I leave this book there during the weekend? I've also taken part to the Tea & Mystery Sweeps, so I'll have to see if the winner would like to have a cat/choco mystery. Which reminds me; if Yonkers were an entire male as implied in the book, he would have sprayed here, there and everywhere in that huge house.

Edit: Haikko called and cancelled: Too few participants for their Chocolate Lovers' weekend😕😕😕

Finished. Yep, my hunch was correct. It's -27 C outside, I need something warming to read - perhaps a Teashop mystery?

Thank you for the book, kind Bookcrossers! Now I have the opportunity to meet some chocoholics. I love chocolate, but only in small portions.

This was the first of JoAnna Carlin books that I got my hands on. This is a nice cozy mystery. But they eat much too much Chocolate in the book. And I have none at home just now! That's too bad. I have never tried to make figurines of Chocolate. To fill chocolate truffles is not an easy job, but maybe you'll learn it from the book. I am not going to try.

Seems like I forgot to make a journal entry when I read the book.

Loved the story and the way it went, nicely written and just enough chocolate to keep you going ...
