I got this fair-condition softcover from an online seller, after enjoying other books in the series, which is about a mysterious woman who tells fortunes via tarot cards. Of course things seem to get a lot more complicated...
The artwork is simply stunning, btw, with all the characters being very beautiful (and most of them very androgynous), with large, liquid eyes heavily rimmed with lashes. The chapter illustrations include full-page images of different tarot cards, with notes crediting a number of different tarot decks for the inspiration.
This volume opens with handsome, dreadlocked Alecto making his way through halls full of tormented victims. The artwork excels here - and gets even more fabulous when we see a full -page image of a demon, with bird-faced fiends beside it holding pans full of human body parts. Very Bosch-ian, horrible and lovely at the same time.
We learn more - though still not quite enough! - about Pamela's past, her immortality, and the beings she loved and who loved her, as well as the way love might turn to hate...
Pamela's not the only one at risk, though; young werewolf Aaron finds himself very much in demand as well.
[There's a TV Tropes page for the series that's of interest, but do beware of spoilers.]
