Back cover:
Aceh, Indonesia. December 2004. Ruslan, an Indonesian boy, and Sarah, an American girl, are brought together in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami. Ruslan is searching for his missing father, while Sarah is trying to get medical treatment for her sick brother. Together they travel through the destruction, barely believing all that they see. The Killing Sea is a high-stakes survival story that puts a human face on a terrible tragedy.

This was a quick read. I was happy when the author brought the two main characters together so one didn't have to keep jumping back and forth between the two stories. I was really enjoying the story, but the ending really stunk......You never find out if Sarah's father survived or not. You don't find out if Peter fully recovers...but at least he gets his cat back. The good-bye between Rusland and Sarah is never complete...he just hands her a drawing and that is the end. The book just left too many loose ends.
