I discovered this series via its TV Tropes page, and have enjoyed the first couple of volumes - as well as several episodes of the anime adaptation on the Crunchyroll site here. I'm sufficiently hooked to want to follow the series farther; ordered this one online.

Later: This one picks up where the previous volume left off, with a new titan, a female, threatening the Survey Corps - and yet she's not eating them, and only kills those who get in her way. (When she does kill it's pretty darned gruesome, even for this gore-laden series.)

At one point Armin is down, and she looms over him... but doesn't attack. What does this mean???

It seems that she's after Eren, and he wants to transform and fight her himself, but Levi tells him he has to choose between trusting in his comrades or in his own strength. There's a flashback here showing Eren trying to transform to help Hange with her research; we learn some things about the limitations of his abilities. It also shows how much he wants to belong with his new comrades, so he decides to obey the initial orders to stay out of action - even though this means the deaths of many of those comrades. Just as he's reconsidering his decision, though, a new aspect of Levi's plan becomes obvious, and the game changes dramatically.

[There's another humorous "not a real preview" at the end of the book, this one with blurbs about "Jean's Horrific Past" - in which his mother has burst into his bedroom without knocking first. Oh, the horror!]
