The slums of Uganda produced a truly young chess prodigy that started her on a hard fought way out of the slums. Phiona Mutesi began her quest to become a Grandmaster chess player at the age of 9 and her goal was assisted by the coaching and care from a war refugee, Robert Katende, who helped her to reach her goal.
