A number of people - most of them either related, or childhood friends, or acquainted with each other's parents - are being very polite or very rude to each other or trying to get into each other's pants. Apart from that, they spend the book building up a secret service type of organisation and planning and carrying out a covert operation to get a quantity of stuff from Africa to the US. Most of the time, people are sitting and talking, or flying somewhere, or coming back from somewhere. Reading this is like watching grass grow - sure things happen, eventually, but at a snail's pace, and three times out of four you don't see it happen, but get get told by someone.

The story isn't so much boring as such, but it is very longwinded and overloaded with unnecessary detail. Stripping all the superfluous detail would reduce the book to half its length. Towards the end, on the last 80 pages or so, it picks up a bit of speed, when the secret operation is carried out, but the book ends in the middle of nowhere. A bit disappointing.

This is a great book if you want to get bored out of your mind to stir creativity...
