To be read.

Finally got around to reading this.

When disease begins to take its toll on the slaves at a Mississippi plantation, the master/owner purchases a very expensive slave, Polly Shine, who is a skilled healer and midwife. Because she is old, and was so expensive, she is instructed to find a girl to pass along her knowledge to, one who could take over should she die. The story follows Polly, and her "apprentice", Granada, their lives on the plantation, and Granada's growth as her gifts are revealed to herself, and she realizes how she is woven into the lives around her.

An engaging story.

Little Free Library in front of City Hall Annex on Federal Hwy. The book looks dirty, but it's not! For some reason the cover art is designed to make it look dirty. Probably not the best way to sell books! Enjoy.
