Caught today at McDonald's Nunawading. This one has been on the move for a long time, it can rest awhile in Templestowe before continuing its journey.
Hard to believe but I first read this story last century, approximately 1999, I loved it then so have just completed a skimming read again and still love it. Kingsolver offers poetic descriptions that I found extremely beautiful, rich and moving. Her main characters were well-realized and accessible, and she succeeded nicely in giving each a very individual voice.
Overall, this is a terrific book, well-crafted, informative and satisfying.
