Purchased used for release from my local Used Paperback Exchange. This little book caught my eye and I thought it would make a nice little book for a bookring. For now though, it goes on my TBR pile.

"An entertaining collection of short stories, in which twenty writers investigate "our idiosyncratic affiliation with cats," has been meticulously assembled for anyone who has ever been in awe of, in love with, fascinated, or frustrated by the mysterious and marvelous cat." --- amazon.com

To join this bookring please PM me with your location and mailing preference. New members will be added all of the time so be sure to check the list of participants before you mail the book to the next in line just in case!

As I get a list of participants, I will arrange the list to take advantage of the geography and not have the book criss-crossing the country or the globe. If someone wants to join after the list order is pretty much established, I will fit them in wherever necessary to take advantage of the current mailing order and geography.

When you receive the book please PM the next person in line to obtain their mailing address. That way when you are finished reading it, hopefully you will have the info you need to send it on without waiting. Check the list before you mail it out, just in case someone has been added in. If you have not heard from them in 10 days, please PM the next in line.

Please do not hold onto the book longer than 30 days.

Mailing the book via Media Mail or Surface Economy for oversea's destinations is just fine. No first class mail or air mail is necessary.

One last request, please do not make a release note or release it to a controlled release when you send the book on it's way, I would prefer just a journal entry.

If you are last on the list, please PM me, to make sure no one else has expressed interest.

This arrived in the mail today (01/17/04). It looks like a wonderful collection. I can't wait to finish the rays I have in front of it.

Thanks so much for sending this book out for all of us to enjoy Eskielover!

=^. .^=

The picture is of Athena playing in a box. She is blind in her right eye but it does not stop her from being super playful.

I really tried to like this book. I kept hoping that the next story would be better. Several of the stories I reread in hopes that I would enjoy them more. My impression from many of the stories was that some of the writers dislike cats. Just not exactly the warm fuzzy stories I was expecting.

The black and white photographs by Tony Mendoza are superb. I am impressed with what he was able to capture.

Sorry Eskielover to rate this so low. I am still thankful that you sent this out. I look forward to seeing what others think. Maybe I was just in a funk.

The picture is of Fluffernutter, our newest family member. She was a stray we adopted in November.

This is Eva Luna. I named her after one of my favorite books by Isabel Allende. Turned out to be the perfect name as we can call her Eva Lunatic or Eva Lunacy. She is the sister of Athena. =^. .^=

Great book. It was not all cute, in fact, some of the stories were a little dark.

I liked the first six stories. The next two stories were a little disturbing and I found it hard to like the book after that. Great photographs though!

This book was mailed to Lorelei03 today.

Released on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Sent in the mail in Atlanta, Georgia Controlled Releases.

What a charming book! The stories range from comic to tragic, and all celebrate that marvelous creature, the Cat.

Mailed to geniedances in Texas to continue the ring.

Like any collection of short stories, some I liked and some I didn't like. It seemed that the majority of the stories were dark with the cat coming to a bad end. Some were so dark that I found them troubling. Several others stared out dark but had positive aspects at the end.

I especially liked the suite of cartoons and the suite of photographs. The list of humane organizations at the end of the book gives useful and helpful information.

Will get this in the mail to barker-tx today at lunch.

next on my TBR stack.......7/19 finished the book this evening and I agree with Geniedances.

Some of the stories are troubling to this cat lover/owner, but many of them are very happy/upbeat.

Will be passing this on to Vicki9160 later this week

Well, I finally managed to read all the stories! I had to take a couple of breaks to read something else. Most of what I feel about this collection has already been said. One story has been haunting me, Chicago and the Cat , such a disturbing story.

Sending on to caligula03 as the next six did not reply or have dropped out.

The book didn't pull me in the way I had hoped it would. My favorite was the Doris Lessing story: "An Old Woman and Her Cat."
