A collection of Contemporary Love Poems

I’m writing this on November 9th but won’t post my journal entry until later. For the time being, this book is reserved.
I did as I usually do, read the Foreword first. Thank you for it, Christine Redman-Waldeyer, I really enjoyed it. Then the first poem, Waiting for the Revolution by Kathleen Kirk. No wonder she won the First Place. I knew I’d find this book good even if there was no other poem I’d find. (That’s the beauty of poetry collections. It’s enough if you find one or two poems you like. They save the rest of the book.)
But, of course, there were also other poems I truly enjoyed. My favorites are Fifty Years Together and Finding Our Way by Lois Parker Edstrom, Fast Song by John McDermott,If I were to die by Lynne McEniry. When reading prose, I'm usually not that interested in the storyline, I find language and writing style much more important in a novel or short stories. But in poetry, I love stories. In the Style of Water by Damon McLaughlin tells a story. I just loved it and was particularly touched by parts 5, 9 and 10. I also liked the essay, On love poetry by David Crews.
So, there was plenty to enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing this little gem with me, lauraloo29!
