Purchased at Tysons Library book sale for wild release. I decided to stick this on my bookshelf and give it a read before I release it.

I found an audio CD copy of this book and have been listening to it while driving back and forth to work for the last several weeks.

I don't know what to think about this book entirely. This may be one of the first books I have read where the main character is a rather self-centered and highly insecure teenage girl. She is more worried about how others think about her than worried about the repercussions of her actions.

She tries to get back with an old friend who has essentially dumped her for a new crew while her new best friend is left in the dust. She even successfully lands a relationship only to treat him poorly in the end. The sister is a puppet as she manipulates her to cast spells for various reasons - although I think the spells on the stepmother were well founded.

There were times where the main character made me click the radio off - but then on other occasions it was like listening to a train wreck - I had to see how bad it would be so I kept listening.

All said, I finished the book, but won't be seeking out the rest in the series. I'm sure this is meant to provide some proverbial teachings but given the high volume of other wonderful books out there, this series don't make that cut.
