This story is set in the Yorkshire Dales.
Snowbound and isolated, The Dales community of Hawkshead is rocked by the curious circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of Jim Blackwood - recently arrived in the Dales - in the frozen tarn below Ravenscar. Laura Grant, a young GP who is also a recent resident of Hawkshead, comforts and supports the grieving widow, while her senior partner Dr Gerald Scott, issues the death certificate. But why did he sign it so quickly? When the police become involved everyone begins to feel the strain.
As the harsh Yorkshire winter gives way to spring, the drama unfolds, to reveal a mystery that touches them all.
