I got this fair-condition hardcover from the Used Book Superstore in Salem NH (they're having a sale!). I'd read it a while back, and as with all of Sacks' books about the oddities of the human brain, I was both intrigued and frightened by the cases he describes. Oh, and amused (the "earworm" section was especially entertaining).

The book includes the case of Clive Wearing, a musician who developed a severe case of both retrograde and anterograde amnesia - effectively, he lives only in the now, but with a constant sense of loss...

Both poignant and heart-warming are the cases of people who, though they may have lost all other memories due to injury or illness, can often recall music. I know of people with advanced Alzheimer's who can be made to cheer up and even sing along with familiar melodies, even when they no longer recognize the loved ones who are with them.

There's more to music than one might think...

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I left this book propped up on a pillar on the library porch at around 6 or so; hope the finder enjoys it! [Putting it into the library book-sale would be perfectly fine too.] The photo shows the handsome library building and its tree-weathervane.
