As the countdown to Mma Makutsi's wedding begins, all is not as it should be at the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency. While investigating unpleasant occurrences on a southern cattle-post, Mma Ramotswe, always on the side of the weak against the strong, has reason to reflect on Rule No.3 of The Principles of Private Detection: never lie to the client. Apprentice mechanic Charlie seems to be avoiding certain important responsibilities. And as Mma Makutsi's big day approaches, her nemesis Violet Sephotho is casting her net wider: by standing for election which could spell trouble for the entire nation.

But as friends and family gather under starry African night skies, it turns out that even the most perplexing of apparitions - and the most shocking of crimes - may yield to rational explanation. And, of course, to Mma Ramotswe's inimitable way with love, intuition and redbush tea.

Released 10 yrs ago (8/2/2013 UTC) at Ringwood, Hampshire United Kingdom

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Bought the book while staying in Ringwood as had to catch up with the series, read while on holiday in Minehead, and finally being posted ... on the day i am leaving the UK to go back to China.

I am thinking that Charlie got off way too easy, and felt the cattle drama was left unresolved, but still an enjoyable story. Good to see the marriage finally happen.

Travelling back over to Botswana, filled me with so much glee. This is definitely one of the better books of the series, as there is a great detective story involved, that kept me guessing and guessing.

I loved Mma Makutsi's nervousness and excitement with the wedding as it kept me entertained and the constant appearance of the little white van kept me extremely intrigued.

It was not quite 10 stars due to the fact that it was a speedy novel, I felt that the time involved went very quickly and a few days were skipped out. I might have liked another client to have come in and had a second detective story inside too.

Overall an exciting novel that kept me entertained right until the end. I can't wait for the next book which I have right beside me :)

I will send this out next week, with the previous book. I promise :)

The latest book in the series is safely here with me. Thanks for sending/sharing :-)
February - Wow! I have had this book a long time, sorry about that!

I enjoyed this book a lot, I like the balance between the detective cases and the personal lives of the characters we already know. I'm glad that the wedding has happened now, it will be interesting to see how Mma Makutsi changes. The next one is waiting patiently for me to read.

Lunatum is coming to Tampere so I had to read this quickly! Luckily this was a very smooth story and I really enjoyed it. I just love it how things go in Botswana, although I know it would drive me crazy if we in Finland would try to live like that ;)

Thanks for sharing this book!

The boon is with me! I haven't got two previous books so this one has to wait so that I can read them in right order.
