I think I picked this up at the Hawaii Book & Music Festival; the author apparently lives here.

Parker and his best friend Wren find a strange ugly puppet at the salvage yard. When Parker tries it on, the puppet speaks, saying "You will call me Drog"..and Parker can't take him off! What do you do when no one believes that you really have a talking puppet stuck on your hand?

This book got me thinking: authors often use male and female characters who are best friends, especially when they're prepubescent, but the way I remember things, at that age most boys & girls didn't have very much to do with each other. I mean, in sixth grade, we just didn't talk to the boys that much...

Since aikido plays an important role in this story, I'm tempted to leave this near the aikido dojo, if I can find a good spot.

This book went to Cafe Taj Mahal with TOC and found a new reader there: enjoy! I'll count this for Secretariat's 2013 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Challenge (week 29).
